The importance of tile adhesives
Tile adhesive is ready-mixed and specially formulated from OPC, selected fine sand, and additives to improve its essential properties for laying tiles. High-performance tile adhesive can be used to lay tiles on existing tiles, on polished cement, on wooden substrates or other special substrates. While cement is quite strong when used to hold bricks together, it does not do a very good job when used to install tiles. After a few years, tiles often become loose and even come out in some cases. With the correct Tile Adhesive, this is never a problem. It can hold the tiles tightly in place for decades to come. This makes it especially reliable for installing wall tiles.

Cellulose ethers are part of the formulation in cement based tile adhesives. They provide water retention and a special rheological profile to the wet mortar. They also determine to a large extent the complete performance properties of the set adhesive.
MilaCell™ Cellulose is a kind of HPMC specially used for the production of tile adhesive. It has very good performance in terms of workability, water retention, and anti-slip. It can be used in the production of C1 tile adhesive. Compared with TYLOSE MH60010P4, MilaCell™ Cellulose HPMC can completely replace it.
Advantages of adding Cellulose Ether
MilaCell® celluloses retain water and ensure that the adhesive dries more slowly. As a consequence it can be applied to the substrate more homogeneously and retains a smooth texture for longer. The increased drying time and associated prolonged open time lead to optimal processing properties.
The adhesion properties are also improved. MilaCell® Cellulose Ether HPMC not only affects the adhesive’s bonding to the substrate, but also the tile’s bonding to the adhesive. The slipping tendency of the tile decreases, while the tensile adhesion strength increases.
